The Kalk Bay Sessions 2011

We had been scouting out venues for a recording last month and we were lucky enough to find that the guys from White Horses studio in Kalk Bay had a space for us. They graciously gave us their lounge over looking the sea for a weekend. The recording space was comfortable, adaptable, scenic and dangerously close to the Olympia Cafe (where we enjoyed pastries more than what's good for us). The objective was to get a typical Nomadic Orchestra set down - no multi-tracking or anything serious like that - just an honest representation of what so many people have come to know and enjoy as the instrumental, gypsy, dance experience that is the Nomadic Orchestra. After a week of practices, grafting and making sure each track was just the way we wanted it we crashed all our gear at White Horses', assumed our positions and pressed record. In two days we managed to record 14 (maybe 15) tracks and are hoping to release at least half of them this coming weekend.

Hold your breath Nomad fans, these tracks will reach your ears before you know it!
